WORKING CONDITIONS:
Volunteer Teacher Needed in Zanzibar, Africa
Responsibilities include teaching English, maths, science and art (Foundation stage, key stage 1 and Key stage 2) to children aged between 3 and 15 years old.
Organization: The British School of Zanzibar
Project Location: Zanzibar, Tanzania
Period: 3rd September, 2013 – 31st August, 2014
Languages: English
Who can volunteer? Adults of both sexes (between 20 – 45 years old)
Commitment: minimum 1 year
Cost: Teachers receive free accommodation, free basic Swahil lesson, lunch, during working hours, resident/work permit and living allowance monthly.
REQUIREMENTS:
We are looking for a volunteer teacher (first degree holder or diploma in Education, Psychology, Anthropology, or Sociology to meet the needs of the school and strive to surpass the expectations of students and parents.

Volunteer ESL English Teacher Needed in Tanzania, Africa

Teach English in Tanzania

CITY: Mungere
START DATE: September 3, 2013
WORKING CONDITIONS:
We are accepting applications for an experienced English as a Second Language (ESL) Teacher to manage the English Immersion Program (EIP) at Mungere Secondary School between September 9 and December 13, 2013, engaging students to speak, read and write English.
40 young and bright children will begin Form I classes at Mungere Secondary School in January 2014. Our students live in a remote Maasai community, where English is rarely spoken, and primary school is taught in Kiswahili. Yet, Tanzanian secondary school curriculum is English-based and the language barrier can be an obstacle to learning. The 3-month English Immersion Program is designed to develop language skills that will enable understanding and active participation during future secondary school courses.
Volunteer Period
September 3 – December 14, 2012 (ability to extend duration of position)
Responsibilities
Engage students through interactive pedagogy
Contribute innovative lesson plans
Manage classroom activities
Assist in coordinating extra-curricular activities and sports
How WE Pitch In
• WE pick you up at Kilimanjaro Airport and transport you to your new home
• WE arrange and furnish (shared) housing
• WE provide orientation, familiarizing you with life in Tanzania and school operations
• WE do NOT charge volunteer program fees
• WE provide teaching materials (but you are welcome and encouraged to bring your own)
• WE provide assistance with travel planning and arrangements
• WE welcome your input and value your suggestions
How YOU Pitch In
• YOU use your passion and experience to the benefit of students
• YOU cover your living expenses ($300/month average)
• YOU pay for airfare, visas, and immunizations
• YOU pay for your health insurance and medical expenses (if any)
• YOU agree to follow our volunteer safety policy
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum 4-year university degree
ESL certification (TEFL, CELTA, or equivalent)
Experience in the classroom
Commitment to interactive and engaging education
Professionalism and passion
Experience traveling, living and/or teaching abroad preferred
Interest in Tanzania’s indigenous cultures and traditions
Ability to live in a developing community
Flexibility to work individually and as part of a diverse team
