SALARY: Monthly salary of $SGD4500 ($3500 base salary and $1000 housing allowance)
WORKING CONDITIONS:
I Can Read is a large literacy-based learning organisation with centres in nine countries. We are currently seeking appropriately qualified and experienced teachers to fill vacancies in our Singapore centres.
We are currently seeking appropriately qualified and experienced teachers who are able to commence work in April and May 2013.
JOB DESCRIPTION
You will be teaching reading and literacy skills to children between the ages of 3 and 13 using the specially-developed “I Can Read” system. Full training is provided.
The position involves teaching reading, writing and comprehension skills to children using the specially-developed “I Can Read“ system. More information on our teaching methods can be found on our website

It is essential that all applicants are prepared to work with students between the ages of 3.5 and 13.
COMPENSATION
Monthly salary of $SGD4500 ($3500 base salary and $1000 housing allowance) upon completion of 3-month probation period. During probation the base salary is as above but the housing allowance is $500/MTH.
Bonus of $7000 payable on successful completion of two-year contract.
Two consecutive weekdays off; all teachers need to work on Saturday and Sunday as these are our busiest days. Days off are set and will not change from week to week.
Airfare reimbursement of up to $1500 (to cover the cost of initial travel to Singapore) payable upon successful completion of the two-year contract.
Airport pickup and five days of initial hotel accommodation upon arrival in Singapore.
-No more than 8 students per class.
The chance to teach a system that really works! Our teachers gain a great deal of professional satisfaction through seeing the literacy skills of their students develop at such a rapid rate.
We also provide five days of full training in the I Can Read system and its methods. Due to the nature of the system very little lesson planning/preparation time is needed. This means that you are free to put all your energy and enthusiasm into your classes.
REQUIREMENTS:
-Preference will be given to those who hold Degree-level qualifications in Teaching/Education/Early Childhood Studies. However this is not essential.
-Teachers must be Native Speakers from Australia, New Zealand, Great Britain, Canada, Ireland, South Africa or the U.S.A.
-All applicants must be Degree-qualified native speakers of English (i.e. must have completed their primary, secondary and tertiary education in one of the above-mentioned countries as well as holding citizenship there).
-We can only consider teachers without Degree-level teaching qualifications if they have an Arts/Humanities-based Degree (English, Literature, Linguistics, and Psychology etc.) This is due to the difficulty we have experienced in getting Employment Passes for teachers with other types of Degrees.
-All applicants must have a clear and universally understandable accent.
-Applicants who send “generic” cover-letters that do not refer to this advertisement will not be considered for an interview.

START DATE: Start late December 2012/Early January 2013 at the latest.
SALARY: Salary range $2,500 – $4,000 SGD depending on credentials and experience
WORKING CONDITIONS:
*Teaching duties
– Conduct classes, lessons and/or activities as assigned and carry them out according to the curriculum
– Prepare and conduct one to one Intensive sessions as and when required
– Carry out Student Placement tests and advise parents on appropriate programme for child
– Monitor the performance of students
– Write students’ progress reports at the end of each term
– Follow up and attend to queries relating to students
– Help maintain a healthy class enrollment
– Build a strong rapport with parents and students
– Provide feedback on lesson plans and worksheets such as typo errors, new ideas and activities to Course Director or Centre Manager.

REQUIREMENTS:
*Qualifications
– Bachelor’s Degree (Education/Linguistics/English) or an Honours degree together with a Post Graduate Certificate of – Education and TEFL/CELTA qualifications
– At least one year of teaching experience (volunteer work is acceptable)
– Native English speaker
– Possess a flair for writing
– Well-versed in the American and/or British education system

– Passionate – the love for imparting knowledge and values to the young ones
– Approachable – always happy to listen and talk to parents and students
– Loving – be a kind and nurturing person
– Smiley – always have a smile to share
– Mature, responsible, patient and positive – energetic a plus
– Willingness to work on weekend days and/or weekday evenings (this is crucial, must have a flexible schedule)
– Must have a great sense of humour, we like to laugh and have FUN
