Position: Senior Lecturer
Kazakh-British Technical University (Almaty, Kazakhstan) is recruiting experienced teachers to join our team starting in August 2013.
KBTU is the premier technical university in Central Asia. Students are held to rigorous academic standards and expectations for their English proficiency are high. Class sizes are kept small, and typically range from only ten to twelve students. Teachers’ class load is also kept small, ranging from 12 to 18 contact hours per week. The English Language Department consists of a mix of both foreign and expert local teaching staff. All teachers are given a great deal of support and encouragement in their work both inside and outside the classroom, as well as assistance with obtaining a visa, finding accommodation, and acclimating to life in Kazakhstan.
Almaty is an extremely diverse, multicultural city located directly in the heart of Central Asia. It has a large community of expats from all across the world, and English speakers are common. Even though Almaty is a very modern city, the cost of living in Kazakhstan is such that it is fairly easy to save money if you are so inclined. The local culture greatly emphasizes hospitality, and foreigners are welcomed warmly. Almaty is the cultural epicenter of the region, containing a great deal of history, museums, theaters, parks, and night life. It is also home to breathtaking scenery, with mountains and parks offering opportunities for world-class skiing, hiking, camping, cycling, horseback riding, and other outdoor sports.

Responsibilities
·Teach English to undergraduate/graduate students at all levels within the Department of English (12-18 teaching hours per week)
·Evaluate student progress and providing ongoing guidance for improvement
·Maintain regular office hours
·Participate in extra-curricular activities with students
·Participate in departmental activities and professional development
REQUIREMENTS:
·Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field from an accredited university required.
·Master’s degree holders strongly preferred
·A total of 3 years or more (or at least 6 or more terms/semesters) full time teaching experience. University level teaching experience preferred but not required.
