EFL/ESL/EAP Lecturer Positions: 2-year renewable contracts
We are recruiting for Sept 2013 well-qualified, committed and experienced teachers of EFL/ESL/EAP for our English Language Programme.
The programme prepares male students for English-medium studies leading to B.S. degrees in science, engineering or industrial management. During the first year, students receive tuition designed to develop sufficient skills for autonomous study. Subsequent shorter programs support students’ further development.
These are competitive, and depend on qualifications and experience. They are reviewed upon contract renewal. Increments are awarded based upon performance.
All compensation is tax-free.
This accrues at the rate of one half- month’s salary for each year of service. With five or more years of service, the gratuity is calculated on the basis of a month’s salary for each year of service.
Free, fully-furnished individual accommodation is provided. Free services include air conditioning, gas, electricity, satellite TV and water. Each apartment has its own telephone and free internet connectivity.
This is generous. Faculty leave is determined by the academic calendar, and instructors are generally free between semesters and during the summer. There are also short mid-semester breaks.
As a government employee, free medical and dental care is provided.
Annual round-trip air tickets to the point of origin are provided.
Regular bus services are provided between accommodation and campus.
Applicants must be male, up to 58 years of age. They must be native-speaker nationals of the USA, UK, Canada, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand or South Africa. Applicants must also have the following qualifications and experience.
A bachelor’s degree in any discipline, plus:-
MA/MEd in TEFL/TESOL or Applied Linguistics including a practicum; a one-year postgraduate diploma in TEFL/TESL from an anglophone university, or an RSA/UCLES DELTA. These qualifications must be full-time courses.
More basic postgraduate qualifications in TESOL (CELTA, Cert TEFLA or equivalent – full-time 120 hours with a practicum) are also acceptable for more experienced candidates.
Candidates possessing an MA in TEFL/TESOL or Applied Linguistics require at least two years’ full-time teaching experience. With more basic postgraduate qualifications, a minimum of five years TEFL/TESOL subsequent to qualification is required.
