WORKING CONDITIONS:
Maple Leaf International School, located in Matsusaka City, Mie Prefecture, is currently accepting applications for 1 Preschool Teacher and 1 English Conversation Teacher to start from Mid-March 2013 until March 2015. We are looking for positive, hard working, professional teachers with plenty of energy who are dedicated to the education of young children.
We are a private International School focusing on students between the ages of 2 to 6. The main area of focus of our school is our Preschool Immersion program, where children are taught an array of subjects in English 5 days a week from 3 to 5 hours a day. We also have once a week English conversation classes for students outside of the immersion program as well as a English Extended Childcare program.
About the position
Preschool Teacher
Working Hours:
Monday to Friday 8:30~5:30
Maximum of 25 teaching hours per week
Preschool course lessons occur every day and are 9:00-2:00 with a 1 hour lunch break from 12:00-1:00
Afternoon lesson occur 2 to 3 times a week and are 90 minutes each from 3:30-5:00
Teachers teach the same children every lesson, and only would be required to teach different children if substituting.
English Conversation Teacher
Working Hours:
Tuesday to Friday 12:30-8:30
Saturday 8:30-5:30
Maximum of 30 teaching hours per week
Teachers teach the same children every lesson, and only would be required to teach different children if substituting.
Salary:
250,000~300,000 yen per month based on skills and experience with raises based on performance. Compensation reviewed twice a year during performance reviews and regular raises given to top performers.
Bonuses:
1 autumn bonus and 1 Spring bonus based on performance
Responsibilities include:
-Teaching multiple subjects to children between the ages of 1-3 in the preschool course (Preschool)
-Teaching English Conversation using textbooks to students aged 6 and above (English Conversation)
-Teaching children aged 2 to 6 in the afternoon English conversation courses
-Assisting in toilet training children in the preschool course (Preschool)
-Changing diapers
-Supervising children during playtime
-Writing lesson plans and reports
-Creating teaching materials
-Communicating with parents
-Participating in Spring and Summer School programs
-Participating in school events such as sports day, Open School, Halloween Parade etc
-Participating in school and class field trips
-Attending staff meetings
-General classroom maintenance
Accommodation:
Teachers have the option of staying in a partially furnished company apartment (52,000-56,000yen per month). Accommodations are modern, 1 or 2 bedroom apartments and are roughly 40-50 squared meters (quite large by Japanese standards). All apartments are single occupancy. No key money or deposit is necessary.

Use of school computer (each preschool staff is assigned a notebook computer)
REQUIREMENTS:
Must have experience working with young children.
A degree in an education related field, or a teaching certification is an asset.
Conversational Japanese preferred.
Teaching and living in Japan experience also preferred.
