Requirements:
The successful candidate has the following qualifications and skills:

  • Degree in applied linguistics;

  • Current knowledge of placement and standardized ESL tests to be used within the ESL Department and in collaboration with the Admissions Department in the school.

ESL PROJECT MANAGER

Lambton College of Applied Arts & Technology invites applications from qualified individuals for a part-time 3-month temporary administrative staff contract position of ESL Project Manager in our International Education Division.

  • Responsible for managing the initial setup of a possible new ESL program;
  • May be required to travel overseas to recruit students for Lambton‘s ESL program (travel may be to China, South Korea, Vietnam and the Middle East);
  • Design and development of new web pages and marketing materials.

Requirements:

  • University degree, ESL qualifications and experience preferred;
  • A valid driver’s license and passport required and the ability to travel overseas for two weeks at a time;
  • Superior organizational and multi-tasking skills to meet deadlines, handle multiple assignments, and prioritize workload;
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills in order to communicate effectively with external partners, students, faculty and staff;
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision, and as an effective team player.

Positions are on a purely contract basis. Preference is given to teachers residing in and familiar with the greater Edmonton region. Contracts are flat rate for the programs and do not include accommodations or transportation. We are looking for teachers to fill the below contracts…

March 19th to April 1st We have a mixed interactive program for a Japanese High School group. 15 Students will be studying ESL in the mornings of the program as well as group English interactions with local all girls school and local teen conversations buddies. Program will incorporate active English excursions and student volunteer work. Students will reside in home-stays within the local area. Contractors will be sought for ESL teaching positions as well as for the Head Coordinator position in charge of the program.

July 23rd to August 18th. This program is an intensive English Program/Canadian cultural training program for Japanese students coming into our long term programs for 2012. The programs curriculum is designed to enhance students English ability and to expose them to significant cultural differences which they may encounter during there year in rural placements throughout Northern Alberta. This program is conducted weekdays at a study centre in Sherwood Park Alberta. Students will be residing with local host families and attend classes 9-3. Some active English excursions are done weekly to enhance the students learning experience and guest speakers come in during the program as well. We will be contracting a teacher coordinator for this program. They will be responsible for delivering the curriculum provided as well as all other aspects of the program. We are expecting 15-17 students for this program.

June 18th to July 27th This program is for a group of Japanese students 6-8 participants requiring summer training to prepare them to take the TOEFL iBT program. Participants reside in Edmonton and attend local High Schools from April – March 2011/2012 The teacher for the program must have significant experience teaching the TOEFL iBT be comfortable using computers and have transportation, cell phone and be familiar with the Edmonton region.

July 2nd to July 21st This dormitory based program is a summer ESL school for mixed international students. It is designed to be fun as well as to sharpen students English skills during summer vacation time. Teacher/coordinator will reside in dorms with students and will be relieved each weekend by a resident activity coordinator.
